By the Fire

Found in the book 'Take Heart, Seeker'
By the Fire

By the Fire invites the reader to reflect on the difference between superficial seeking and deep, transformative longing. The poem metaphorically speaks to the inner fire of desire that draws us toward truth, urging us to move beyond fleeting mental distractions and embrace the intensity of true seeking.

If what you came here for
was another morsel of knowledge,
a candy for the mind to chew on,
then take leave and seek elsewhere
for tasty shortcuts that keep you wanting more.

~

If what you came here for
started as a longing
and became a burning fever,
threatening to ignite your insides...
Then come sit here,
by the fire
