Forever and a Day

Forever and a Day

Here is a metaphorical reflection on our "True home" - the Atman or Self. It contrasts the impermanence and burdens of the 'relative' world with the timeless, worry-free state of our True nature.

The roof will never leak
and doors never squeak,
no creaking basement stairs,
no maintenance or repairs.

Rent or mortgage never due,
no bills with interest to accrue,
property taxes don’t apply,
no lumber or paint to buy.

No neighbors with complaints,
no bylaws or constraints,
visitors all stay clear,
no salesmen will appear.

Your true home is pristine,
no windows or floors to clean,
free of worry, toil and stress,
you’ll never find a mess.

Never leaving this abode,
yet ever free to roam,
no walls will bar your way,
at rest.. forever and a day.
