Forever and a Day
True rest doesn’t arrive... it’s what remains when the search ends.
This poem points to the fruit of all seeking. Not a goal to reach, but the simple recognition of what has always been. A return without distance, arriving home without effort. Nothing missing. Only stillness remains when seeking ends.
Forever and a Day
The roof will never leak
and doors never squeak,
no creaking basement stairs,
no maintenance or repairs.
Rent or mortgage never due,
no bills with interest to accrue,
property taxes don’t apply,
no lumber or paint to buy.
No neighbors with complaints,
no bylaws or constraints,
visitors all stay clear,
no salesmen will appear.
Your true home is pristine,
no windows or floors to clean,
free of worry, toil and stress,
you’ll never find a mess.
Never leaving this abode,
yet ever free to roam,
no walls will bar your way,
at rest... forever and a day.
